Sometimes i wonder how it will be different if i have entered a jc instead of poly. Will i get more respect? Will people keep their work harder comments to themselves if i am in a jc? Compared to the past, poly and ITE students are certainly getting more respect, and given more opportunities than they will get some years back. If you are think we always have such respect, stop lying to yourself, it's an open secret. The school matters, the reputation matters, the certificate matters. Even if you accomplished all of your life goals, even if you manage to earn much more than someone who have that certificate, people still says that you are one without a certificate, and some how still not up to mark. At least, that is how it feels like here. As a poly student, yes, girls are used to faces with make-up on, yes, there are lots of students in poly who dye their hair, yes, we don't dress up everyday for school. But what is it that you want us to do?
We do dress properly for presentations. People who put on make-up everyday, they may feel more comfortable with their flaws covered, jc students put on make-up as well, just that they can do that when they go to school. We would like to dress properly and have different outfits each day. But you know how tiring that is, to think of what to wear 5 days in a week? Sometimes we do hope for uniforms. There are lots of people who wear proper shoes to schools. But slippers are normal too, we are Singaporeans. =) What is it about having your feet covered constantly in this sweltering weather anyway? We do wear covered shoes if the situation calls for it. If you are still criticizing about the multi-coloured hair, grow up. It's just a colour.
